Retail, Warehouse, and Fulfillment Wire Shelving
Picking carts, retail packaging carts, order pickup stations with dividers, and wire security cages and carts support order picking, packing, and customer pickup. For more mobile options, shop wire carts, trucks, and bin units.
Standard Duty Units Are a Separate, Self-Contained Line
This collection also includes our Standard Duty wire shelving, a light-duty line of single-box units for everyday indoor storage. Standard Duty units hold 65 to 440 lbs per shelf depending on the model and are not compatible with the shelves, posts, and accessories used in the rest of this collection. If you plan to expand or reconfigure later, choose a modular configuration instead.
Order a Wire Shelving Configuration As-Is or Build Your Own Version
Every modular configuration in this collection is made from the same shelves, posts, and accessories sold individually, so any idea here can be ordered as a kit or adapted to fit your space.
Order the Configuration As-Is When:
- The size, shelf count, and finish already fit your space
- You want the task-specific accessories, such as dividers, ledges, hanger rails, or a hardwood top, included in one order
- You'd rather order one complete kit than individual components
Build Your Own Version When You Want:
- A different width, depth, or height, chosen from 66 wire shelf sizes
- More or fewer shelves, or a different finish for your environment
- Different accessories, such as adding casters, liners, or dividers
Start with individual wire shelves and posts, then add wire shelving accessories, or begin with a complete wire shelving unit and customize from there.
How to Build Your Own Wire Shelving Configuration
Building your own version of an idea in this collection comes down to four choices. The Wire Shelving Info page has full sizing and assembly details.
1. Choose Your Shelf Size
Measure the width and depth of your space, then pick from 66 wire shelf sizes. Most shelves are rated 300 to 800 lbs each, evenly distributed. Check each product page for its rating.
2. Choose Your Post Height and Number of Shelves
Post height sets the overall height of the unit. Shelves adjust along the posts in 1" increments, so you can space them to fit what you store.
3. Choose a Finish for the Space
Chrome-plated shelving is rated for indoor, dry storage such as kitchens, closets, offices, and living spaces. Epoxy-coated shelving resists rust and corrosion for humid or wet areas such as bathrooms, garages, and gardening work. The Wire Shelving Buyer's Guide compares finishes in more detail.
4. Add the Accessories Your Use Needs
Casters make a unit mobile, dividers and ledges keep items in place, liners create a solid surface, and hanger rails and hooks hold clothing or tools. Mobile units may also list an overall capacity, which can be lower than the shelf ratings added together.
Creative Uses for Wire Shelving FAQs
Answers to common questions about customizing, expanding, and ordering wire shelving configurations.
Can I add shelves or accessories to a configuration later?
Yes, for modular configurations. They use the same shelves, posts, and accessories as our full wire shelving line, so you can add shelves, casters, dividers, ledges, or liners as needs change. Match the shelf depth and width of your existing unit when ordering. Standard Duty units are the exception and cannot be expanded with these components.
How do I adjust or remove the shelves?
Shelves rest on plastic split sleeves that clip onto the posts at the height you choose, in 1" increments. To set a shelf securely or release it, tap its corners with a rubber mallet.
Can Shelving.com help me design a custom configuration?
Yes. If you have an idea that isn't shown in this collection, or you're not sure which shelves, posts, and accessories you need, contact our Pro Team. We can help you put together a parts list for your space.
Can I pick up a wire shelving configuration at your warehouse?
Most configurations are available for free local pickup at our Madison Heights, MI warehouse. The exceptions are units that include a cart cover, an enclosure, or a non-translucent wire shelf liner. Those components are not stocked in Madison Heights and ship separately. Check each product page for its shipping details, and see our shipping information for delivery times.
