Frequently Asked Questions About Gravity Conveyors
Shelving.com helps warehouse and distribution teams compare roller and wheel bed gravity conveyors, plan curves and gates, and gather the details needed before requesting a quote.
What is a gravity conveyor?
+
A gravity conveyor uses a series of rollers or wheels—and a slight decline or manual push—to move packages and products down the line with no power required. It's a simple, durable way to transport loads of nearly any size for further handling.
What's the difference between roller and wheel bed gravity conveyor?
+
Roller conveyor uses 1⅜" rollers and suits heavier or larger cartons and longer runs. Wheel bed conveyor uses closely spaced wheels and handles lighter or smaller items with low rolling resistance. Both are available in steel or aluminum.
Can gravity conveyor turn corners or let people cross it?
+
Yes. Curved sections in 45° and 90° angles route product around corners, and a gate configuration lets personnel cross the conveyor without climbing over or under it.
Does gravity conveyor work with gravity flow racks?
+
Yes. Our gravity conveyors are fully compatible with our gravity flow racks, creating smooth, fast product transport across any size warehouse or storage facility.
What sizes and capacities are available?
+
Conveyors come in lengths from 12" to 144" in ½" increments, multiple standard widths, and light, standard, and heavy-duty options. Custom, to-the-inch sizes are available, and final capacities are confirmed during configuration.
How do I get a quote for a gravity conveyor system?
+
Share your product type and weight, run length, layout (including any curves or crossings), and how the conveyor connects to your racks or workstations. We'll recommend roller or wheel bed, the right material, and accessories, then quote the system.
