High Voltage & Utility Testers

Collection: High Voltage & Utility Testers

Distribution-level test equipment, for voltages a general purpose meter is not rated to go near. Service and secondary conductor testers identify and confirm conductors at the transformer and the service point, which is work done with the line energized and no room for a wrong answer. Phasing meters confirm two sources are in phase before they are tied together; getting that wrong is a fault, not a nuisance. Hi-pot testers apply a controlled DC voltage to prove insulation on cable and equipment, and high voltage ammeters read current on energized primary conductors from a stick. Proof testers verify that a voltage detector is actually working before a crew relies on it, which is the step that turns a tester into a safe system of work rather than a hopeful one. All of this equipment attaches to a hot stick or is used at a rated working distance - read the rating on the instrument and the stick, not one or the other. Calibration is not optional here; date and log every instrument and retire anything overdue.
