M12 Batteries & Chargers

M12 is the subcompact platform, and its batteries are the reason the tools on it fit where a full-size tool will not — inside a panel, up a ladder, in a bucket, or in a pouch all day. The packs slide into the handle rather than hanging below it, which keeps the tool short and balanced. Compact 3.0 packs are the lightest option and suit drivers, ratchets and inspection tools used in bursts; XC4.0, XC5.0 and XC6.0 packs extend the run time for the tools that work harder — stubby impact wrenches, cut-off tools, and anything used continuously. HIGH OUTPUT cells add current as well as capacity, which matters on the heavier M12 tools. Every M12 pack fits every M12 tool, so the decision is run time against weight and length. Several Milwaukee chargers take M12 and M18 packs in the same bay, including rapid, multi-bay and vehicle chargers, which is worth knowing if a crew is carrying both platforms — one charger on the truck covers the lot.
