M18 Batteries & Chargers

The M18 platform is the workhorse of the Milwaukee cordless range, and the battery decides what a tool on it can actually do. Capacity, written as amp hours, sets run time: a CP2.0 keeps a driver light in the hand for overhead work, an XC5.0 or XC6.0 covers a normal day on most tools, and the HD and FORGE HD12.0 packs feed the high-draw tools — high-torque impact wrenches, SDS Max hammers, 9-gallon vacuums — that will flatten a compact pack in minutes. HIGH OUTPUT and FORGE cells deliver more current as well as more capacity, which is what lets a battery run a tool that would otherwise need a cord. Every M18 pack fits every M18 tool, so the choice is run time and weight rather than compatibility. On the charging side, rapid chargers cut the wait between packs, dual bay and six bay units keep a crew running without anyone waiting at the wall, and vehicle chargers put the same capability in the truck between jobs. A pack that is always half charged is a pack that is always in the way — matching charger count to crew size usually matters more than buying another battery.
